Enric Miralles was one of the twentieth century’s most imaginative architects and designers. Concerned primarily with public spaces, his work explored and redefined the complex relationships between landscape, architecture and social interaction. Miralles's design credits include the powerful Igualda Memorial Park in Spain, the Heaven Pavilion at the Tateyama Museum in Japan and the Utrecht City Hall in Holland.
Miralles studied architecture at ETSAB in Barcelona. He was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and served as guest professor and lecturer at institutions throughout the United States, South America and Europe. In 1998 Miralles and wife Benedetta Tagliabue were selected as the design team for the new Scottish parliament building at Holyrood, Edinburgh. |
